Mission

POSTIVE CHANGE Mission Statement.png

Life is fraught with challenges – if we’re honest, we deal with them daily. Some we breeze through and handle with ease. However, sometimes, challenges arise that require more of us. Sometimes we bear down and work through them, and other times, we push them aside and attempt to ignore them out of existence. While these challenges may reside within our families and friendships, they also may lie deep inside of us from the trauma we have experienced. They can appear in the form of depression, anxiety, self-doubt, worry, fear, and addiction. These challenges often do not like to be ignored and pop up unexpectedly in our lives. They affect our relationships, careers, goals, and cause us to doubt our place in this world. These challenges can often be uncomfortable, scary, and paralyzing. Sometimes we know they are there, and we don't even know how to talk about them; we don’t know how to master them. These challenges require professional support, planning, and guidance.

Goals

At Positive Change Psychological Services, I believe there are no two identical people in the world – we are individuals in every sense of the word. As such, your treatment plan should be as individualized as your fingerprint. Through your individual therapy, you can work through difficult challenges in a safe and nurturing environment that embraces your individuality, values, and spirituality. You can explore the origins of the challenge you face, learn about yourself, gain mastery over the challenge, and learn how to own the challenge rather than letting the challenge own you.

My practice specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, past trauma, and difficult life changes. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, helplessness, and hopelessness: I am confident that in working together, we can accomplish these goals.

Explore the origins of the challenge you face, learning about yourself, and how to own those challenges rather than letting the challenges own you.

Establish an individualized treatment plan, based on your goals, emotional struggles, and challenges.

Work together to re-establish a more holistic and realistic self-image, leading to a more fulfilling life.

Explore emotional problems and develop effective coping strategies and tools to gain mastery over your emotions.

It is never too late to start taking back your life! Start living the life you’ve always wanted. If this is what you want for yourself, I would like to help you along your journey. Please contact me today.

Stephen G. Davis, Psy.D.

owner

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life (I know it’s corny). My name is Stephen Davis (CA License No. PSY25207). I am a psychologist and have been licensed since 2012. I have worked in both clinical and forensic settings and have felt drawn to enter into more clinical work in the Siskiyou County community.

My goal for my clients is to help them make positive changes in their lives. I genuinely believe in the restorative and healing power of a nurturing therapeutic relationship and use psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical behavioral therapies in my practice.

Through therapy, I will help you identify your strengths and values. We will work together to develop coping strategies and tools that will help you gain mastery over your emotional life. We will strengthen your ability to manage interpersonal conflicts and emotional challenges. In my experience, these challenges grow in the dark. Shining light on these challenges can lead to healing and reduce your symptoms of depression, anxiety, worry, helplessness, hopelessness, and trauma. Through therapy, you can start affecting positive changes in your life and begin living the life you’ve always wanted for yourself.

I am able to see clients throughout the week. I have morning appointments slots on Mondays and afternoon and evening slots available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

If you need to make an appointment during the Covid-19 pandemic, in the interest of public health, I am now seeing patients via telehealth.
